Adolph Phillips (born February 2, 1813 in Königsberg (Prussia) , † March 29, 1877 Elbing ) was a Prussian politician.

Adolph Phillips was a son of the English businessman James Phillips, who immigrated to Königsberg from Birmingham, and his wife Eleonore. The legal historian and canon lawyer Georg Phillips was his brother. The journalist and left-liberal politician Adolph Phillips was his son.

Life

Adolph Phillips studied law. In 1832 he became a member of the Corps Saxo-Borussia at Heidelberg University . After completing his studies, he pursued a career as a judge and became a higher regional court assessor. In 1843 he was elected Lord Mayor of the City of Elbing. He held the office until 1853. He was a member of the Prussian National Assembly of 1848 for the constituency of Elbing , and he was elected its 2nd President. Later he was a member of the Prussian House of Representatives. Phillips was one of the leading figures in the liberal movement in East Prussia.
