In his photographs Adrian Sauer explores the fundamentals of a medium that has changed more recently than any other. When analog photography was replaced by digital image processes in the course of the 1990s , quite a few critics saw the end of photography. Sauer's photographic work is a decisive counter-speech to such assumptions. However, it is not only understandable here on what basis the latest photographic technologies are based and how completely new forms of display can be achieved with them. In particular, it is the viewer who in Sauer's works are made the subject of artistic discussion. In his earliest pictures, Sauer replaced every single detail of a photograph with manual intervention, so that in the end, strictly speaking, there is no photo left, but rather a hand drawing created on the computer. It takes a knowledgeable eye to discover and critically evaluate the differences that open up here in Sauer's tableaus. Details also play an important role in more recent works. Sauer understands the very large, but nevertheless finite, digital RGB color space as a spectrum of expression that has to be reinterpreted due to its isolation. Whether in a random row or in a strictly calculated order, all 16,777,216 color pixels are always visible exactly once in these images . To take a look at such works means to be able to think with a clear eye about the connection between calculation and beauty.
