Adrian von Arx (born November 15, 1847 in Muri , Canton Bern , entitled to live in Olten , † September 20, 1919 in Olten) was a Swiss lawyer , politician and author .

life and work

Adrian von Arx was the son of the politician, major and poet writer Adrian and Maria Anna Antonia, née von Büren.

Von Arx studied law in Zurich , Heidelberg , Leipzig and Geneva . In 1874 he married Karolina, née Maritz, and practiced as a lawyer in Olten from 1876 to 1919.

From 1881 von Arx was a member of the cantonal council for the free-thinking party . In 1892, 1902 and 1914 he was their party president. From 1908 to 1917 he was a member of the National Council and enjoyed a high reputation as such.

Von Arx was a member of the Helvetia student union and wrote several festivals and poems.
