Afa Ismail (born November 1, 1993 in Malé ) is a track and field athlete from the Maldives who specializes in the 100-meter run and the 200-meter run . She took part in the Olympic Games for the Maldives in both 2012 and 2016 .

Career

In Daegu , she took part in the 2011 World Championships and started there in the 200-meter run . In the run-up she failed as 38th to qualify for the semi-finals. A year later she was nominated by the Maldives Olympic Committee for the 2012 Olympic Games in London. In contrast to the World Championships, she started there in the 100-meter run and failed in the preliminary round .

At the World Championships 2013 in Moscow she participated and launched in 200 Meters. In her preliminary run, she ran the season best, but could still not qualify for the semi-finals. While she was not allowed to participate in the 2015 World Championships , she was nominated by the Maldives Olympic Committee for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . She started over 200 meters and was only last in her heat despite a new national record. This eliminated the competition. While Aminath Shajan carried the Maldivian flag at the opening event, Afa Ismael was allowed to carry the flag at the closing ceremony.
