Vegetative characteristics

Agave acicularis grows with single rosettes . Their light gray, cloudy, glaucoma and banded leaves are elongated, lanceolate. They are folded lengthwise and flat. The leaf blade is about 45 inches long and 15 inches wide. The leaf surface is slightly rough, the leaf margin almost straight. There are 2 to 3 millimeters long peripheral teeth on it, which are about 10 millimeters apart. They are usually straight or slightly curved, broadly triangular and tapering to a point. The blackish chestnut brown, dull, very short end spine is 1.5 centimeters long. It is conical, slightly bent back and slightly grooved below its center. Occasionally it is roughened except for its tip.

The tips are 12 to 14 millimeters long. The open flower tube has a length of 5 to 6 millimeters. The spindle-shaped ovary is 15 millimeters long and shorter than the tepals.
