description

Vegetative characteristics

The curved foliage leaves of Agave longipes resemble those of the broader-leaved forms of Agave sobolifera . On the leaf margin there are narrow triangular, often bent back and pressed marginal teeth. The end pin, which is often gray, is occasionally strongly compressed and conical. On its upper side, it is more grooved and more persistent and has fewer inwardly directed edges.

Inflorescences and flowers

The "paniculate" inflorescence does not have bulbils . The 60 to 70 millimeter long flowers are on 20 millimeter long flower stalks . Their tepals are yellow. The tips are 20 to 25 millimeters long. The open, conical flower tube has a length of 6 to 8 millimeters. The elongated spindle-shaped ovary is 30 to 40 millimeters long, the stamens 50 to 60 millimeters long.

Fruits and seeds

Nothing is known about the fruits and seeds .

Systematics and distribution

Agave longipes is widespread in Jamaica near St. Andrews on well-drained slopes at altitudes of 1000 to 1200 meters.
