Agave oroensis is a plant from the genus of the Agave ( agave ). An English common name is "Zacatecas Cultivar Agave".
description
Agave oroensis grows individually or forms offshoots. The green, linear, variably arranged, fleshy, rough, runny, long, pointed leaves are 80 to 100 cm long, 8 to 10 cm wide. The leaf margins are serrated. The pointed, gray terminal spine is 2 to 3 cm long.
The panicle inflorescence becomes 5 to 6 m high. The yellow flowers are 70 to 75 mm long and appear on variably arranged branches on the upper part of the inflorescence. The flower tube is 16 to 18 mm long.
Systematics and distribution
Agave oroensis grows in Mexico in the state of Zacatecas on limestone slopes at an altitude of 1,850 m. The first description by Howard Scott Gentry was published in 1982.
Agave oroensis is a representative of the Americanae section . The local, cultivated species is only known from the mining region near Conception del Oro in the north of Zacatecas. The narrow, thick, fleshy leaves with pink buds are typical.
