Agnes of Pyrmont

Agnes von Pyrmont , also Agnes von Heinzenberg (* around 1208 in Heinzenberg , † 1276 in Großlittgen - Himmerod Monastery ) was a castle woman in Cochem and the founder of the Himmerod Monastery.

Life

Agnes von Pyrmont appears for the first time in a document dated October 13, 1274 as the wife of the Burgrave of Cochem, Kuno III. from Pyrmont . The certificate says:

"Burgrave Kuno von Cochem and his wife Agnes are giving the Hof zu Klotten (" Clottene ") with wings and all accessories bought by the Springiersbach Abbey (" Sprenkirsbach ") to the Himmerod Monastery for issuing biennial pitches."

On a tombstone from around the turn of the 14th century , which is located at the entrance to the monastery church of Himmerod, the portrait of a woman is depicted under a three-pass arch . In the corresponding inscription you can find the words: DOMINA AGNES HEINCINBERCH QUONDAM BURGGRAVIA IN COIGME (German: The Mistress Agnes von Heinzenberg, former Countess of Cochem ).

After her death in 1276, Agnes von Pyrmont was buried in Himmerod.
