The Ahmet Yesevi University ( Kazakh Қ. А. Ясауи атындағы Халықаралық қазақ-түрік университеті , Turkish Hoca Ahmet Yesevi Uluslararası Türk-Kazak Üniversitesi , Russian Международный казахско-турецкий университет имени Х. А. Яссави ) is a Kazakh-Turkish University the Kazakh city of Turkistan . The university, founded in 1991, was named after Ahmed Yesevi .

history

The establishment of a university was planned before the collapse of the Soviet Union , but it was to be called the Turkish State University. It was founded on June 6, 1991 by decision of the Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev .

An agreement in the fields of education, science, culture and sport was concluded in 1992 between Nazarbayev and Suleyman Demirel , the then Prime Minister of Turkey , according to which the Turkish State University should become a joint university between the two countries.

In 1993 and 1999, the Pedagogical Institute in Schymkent and the Pedagogical Institute in Taras were incorporated into the Ahmed Yesevi University.
