Ahornallee was after Gute Zeiten , Between you and everything that matters the fourth RTL - soap opera . It was broadcast on the station's afternoon program. The focus was on a single father of two children after the death of his wife, who, plagued by existential worries, wanted to start a new life with them in the city of Düsseldorf .

The series mainly showed social differences, the feud between the poor family and the other, wealthy residents of Ahornallee.

The series aired from April 16 to June 15, 2007 from 5:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in 42 episodes. Until May 18, there was a repetition of the last episode on the following morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. The series was discontinued due to low ratings.

The life of the father of the family Willi Schlosser ( Ulrich Schmissat ) is not easy, especially not after the death of his wife. Financial problems and livelihood worries give him and his two children Petra ( Julia Dellgrün ) and Jan ( Sascha Kekez ) trouble in their home town of Herford, so they decide to make a fresh start in Düsseldorf. Willi's old friend Karsten Winterberg ( Wolfgang Bott ) has found him a job as a caretaker in Ahornallee. Petra in particular had high hopes for a life in the big city. But this is connected with dramatic developments: the family is mocked by the other residents, who in contrast live in prosperity. This struggle is also spreading among the youth. It only becomes really problematic when Jan meets in Jasmin Keller ( Florence Joy Büttner ), the daughter of doctor Dr. Markus Keller ( Hans Holzbecher ), in love.

The villa in which the series took place had six apartments, as well as the practice of the cosmetic surgeon who lives in the house on the ground floor . The main cast consisted of 18 actors with a large proportion of young actors, whose love stories, wishes, secrets, needs and worries were told. For example, the caretaker's daughter Petra ( Julia Dellgrün ) had difficulties establishing herself at her new school, as she was teased there mainly because of her origins and poor circumstances.

In contrast to the previous RTL soap operas, Ahornallee was not shot in a large studio space, but in an old building in Munich . This production method , which was intended to reduce production costs on the one hand, and to give the series an authentic character on the other, was not previously used in German television for soap operas, but only for documentary soaps and pseudo-documentaries . Audience ratings and dismissal

Since the start of broadcasting on April 16, 2007, the audience ratings for the series have been well below the average for RTL. As a first reaction, from May 21, 2007, RTL refrained from repeating the previous episode in the morning (also with a low ratio). A few days later, on May 23, 2007, RTL announced that it would remove the series from its program after the episode had been broadcast on June 15, 2007. While other broadcasters have already withdrawn telenovelas or daily soaps from their programs more often because of bad ratings, the cancellation of Ahornallee was the first case in which RTL made such a decision for an ongoing daily series.
On June 13, 2007, RTL announced that it would make the entire series, including 18 episodes that had already been filmed but no longer broadcast on television, available on the Internet via the RTLNOW platform . This way of exploiting episodes of previously shot series has already been used several times in the USA, but Ahornallee was the first German TV series in which this option was used by the broadcaster.
