history

The name Ahrensnest is a field name that was first mentioned in 1320. At that time, the city of Templin was confirmed its possessions in the southeast and east, including the Ahrensnest. The forest Ahrensnest is mentioned in 1325. In 1603 the Arnim subjects led to Milmersdorf and the city of Templin a long-standing legal dispute because of the borders behind the Arensnest . In 1616 the Ahrensnest forest and the meadows were owned by the city.

In 1761 a settlement is mentioned for the first time. A house for a lock keeper was built at a lock on the canal that connects Lübbesee and Zaarsee . In 1766 plans were drawn up for the (re-) settlement of the desert field marks Ahrensdorf, Ahrensnest and Hermsdorf. Only the settlement of the desert Feldmark Ahrensdorf was realized. The lock keeper's house included four hooves and two acres of land, the hooves to 30 acres, for a total of 122 acres of land. In 1795 a lock inspector lived in the house . In 1801, however, he was only a lock keeper again. In the meantime two more fireplaces had been built, probably in a duplex. At that time Ahrensnest had 18 inhabitants. In 1817 and 1820 the original house was renamed the lock keeper's house. Ahrensnest then had 10 residents. In 1837 the lock keeper's house and a day laborer's house are named. The owner was the Magistrate of Templin. The position of lock keeper must have been suspended soon afterwards. In 1840 Ahrensnest is an establishment with three houses and 24 inhabitants. In 1860 there were four farm buildings in addition to the three residential buildings. In 1871 the Colonie Ahrensnest had 22 inhabitants who lived in four houses. In 1907 a farmer and a bricklayer lived in Ahrensnest.

Ahrensnest was built on Templin's town markings. In 1931 and 1959 it was still the residential area of the city of Templin. Ahrensnest has been a residential area of the Milmersdorf community since 1961.
