Aiktak Island is an island of the Krenitzin Islands , a subgroup of the Fox Islands in the eastern Aleutian Islands , Alaska . The island is south of Ugamak Island is over 2 km long and is 61 km east of Akutan Island . It is a breeding area for sea birds and seals are found on the north coast .
Aiktak is an Aleutian name, reproduced by Captain Tebenkov in 1852 as "Ostrov Aikhtak". RH Geoghegan means that the name is derived from "aikhag", which means "to travel" or "to go on a journey".
