Aimo Sakari
Aimo Ilmari Kallio Sakari (born February 2, 1911 in Kuolemajärvi , Vyborg , † May 20, 2001 in Keuruu ) was a Finnish Romanist , Provençalist , Medievalist and translator .
Life
Sakari attended the grammar school in Vyborg and studied Romance philology with Arthur Långfors in Helsinki. From 1937 to 1941 and from 1945 to 1958 he was a Finnish lecturer at the Institut des langues orientales (Inalco) in Paris (in between, a lieutenant in the Finnish army). At the same time he heard from Clovis Brunel , Jean Boutière , Pierre Fouché , Mario Roques and Félix Lecoy . In 1956 he received his doctorate in Helsinki with a dissertation Poésies du troubadour Guillem de Saint-Didier . From 1958 to 1981 he was a high school teacher (for German and French) in Jyväskylä , from 1961 a lecturer at the newly founded Philosophical Faculty of the University of Jyväskylä , from 1966 to 1977 professor for Romance languages (also dean and prorector). From 1977 to 1980 he taught Finnish language and culture at the Sorbonne. From 1981 to 1990 he was Vice President of the Association internationale d'études occitanes (AIEO).
