Aine Marie O'Gorman (born May 13, 1989 in Wicklow ) is an Irish football player . With the exception of a brief engagement with the English club Doncaster Belles LFC, she played mostly for Irish clubs, in particular Peamount United FC . She has played for the Irish national team since 2006 .
Career
O'Gorman played for Stella Maris FC while at Sallynoggin College and Institute of Technology in Carlow . Then it went to Peamount United FC , for which she played with short breaks. From 2010 to 2012, she played for the Doncaster Belles LFC in the FA Women's Super League . With Peamount she took part in the 2011/12 UEFA Women's Champions League , where they were eliminated in the round of 32 after two defeats by Paris Saint-Germain .
In 2006, at the age of 16, she played for the Irish national team for the first time at the 2006 Algarve Cup . The Irish could never qualify for a major tournament. In qualifying for the EM 2013 it was only enough for the penultimate place. The qualification for the 2015 World Cup finished third behind Germany and Russia, and they were used in all ten games. In qualifying for the 2017 European Championship , she was the top scorer in her team with five goals in eight games. In qualifying for the 2019 World Cup , she still had three missions. In September 2018, she announced her resignation from the national team after 100 games. She played her 100th international match on June 6, 2018. In February 2020 she was reactivated for the national team.
