The Ainsworth Bay is an icy bay between Cape Bage and Cape Webb on the East Antarctic Georg V. Coast .
It was discovered during the Australasian Antarctic Expedition (1911-1914) under the direction of the Australian polar explorer Douglas Mawson . Mawson named the bay after George Frederick Ainsworth (1878-1950), meteorologist and head of the team on this expedition, which was stationed on Macquarie Island between 1911 and 1913 .
