Air Atlanta Icelandic is the brand name of Flugfélagið Atlanta ehf. It is an Icelandic airline based in Kópavogur and based at Keflavík Airport .
history
Air Atlanta Icelandic was founded on February 10, 1986 by Captain Arngrímur Jóhannsson and his wife Þóra Guðmundsdóttir. The first order for Air Atlanta was to lease a Boeing 707-300B to Caribbean Airways . Today the company is owned by Hf. Eimskipafélag Íslands , an Icelandic investment company . In early 2005, Air Atlanta Icelandic took over the Icelandic airline Islandsflug .
On November 5, 2016, Air Atlanta Icelandic began direct flights between Frankfurt-Hahn Airport and Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport on behalf of Senator International with a Boeing 747-400F ( aircraft registration TF-AMQ ) . A large part of the freight comes from the various BMW plants on both sides of the Atlantic.
Destinations
Air Atlanta Icelandic offers its cargo and passenger aircraft to other airlines under ACMI leasing and also operates a small number of charter flights .
