Flugfélag Austurlands , Eastair Iceland in the mid-1990s , was an Icelandic airline that ceased operations in 1998.
history
Flugfélag Austurlands was founded in Egilsstaðir in 1972 to take over the national flight services of Flugjónustan, which was dissolved at the same time . Operations began in the same year with a Cessna 185 . From the end of the 1970s, the company operated regional scheduled flights within Iceland with one Britten-Norman BN-2 Islander and one Piper PA-31 aircraft . Around the same time, Icelandair acquired a 45 percent stake in the company. After the accident of their BN-2 Islander, Flugfélag Austurlands only used the remaining Piper PA-31 ( registration number : TF-EGU) from September 1980 until it ceased operations in 1998 .
Investors are planning a new airline with the same name and want to offer flights to tourists in the region with a Cessna 208 Grand Caravan .
Incidents
The Flugfélag Austurlands recorded one incident in its history:
