Air Travel is a Chinese airline based in Kunming ( Yunnan , China). The company was founded in 2014 as Hongtu Airlines and started operations in 2016. In 2018 it was renamed Air Travel for international use. In Chinese it still bears the name Hongtu Airlines (红土 航空). Air Travel currently only flies to destinations in China. The first foreign destination planned is Dili in East Timor .

In 2015, the airline received approval from the Civil Aviation Authority of the People's Republic of China (CAAC). The original name "Hongtu" (红土) means "red earth" and refers to the red earth of the Dongchuan district .

The first flight took place on May 21, 2016 with an Airbus A321 from Kunming to Nanchang .

In May 2019, a code-sharing contract was signed with Air Timor . Air Travel plans to fly to Dili from Hong Kong as its first international destination. From here, other destinations in the region will be served. Connections to Bali , Perth and Darwin are planned . An Airbus A319 is to be used.

Kunming Evergreen Financing holds 30% of the company, 20% is owned by businessman and chairman Tang Longcheng, and the rest is shared by five companies.
