Airblue ( Urdu ائیر بلو, Spelled airblue ) is a Pakistani airline based in Karachi and based at Karachi / Jinnah International Airport .
history
Airblue was founded in 2003 by the former Pakistani Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and started operations on June 18, 2004 with three leased Airbus A320-200s . During the first year the airline became so popular that it entered into direct competition with the state-owned Pakistan International Airlines . Today it is Pakistan's second largest airline with a 20% share of domestic traffic.
Destinations
In addition to several domestic destinations, Airblue also offers flights to Oman , the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia .

Incidents
- On July 28, 2010 an Airbus A321-200 ( aircraft registration AP-BJB ) coming from Karachi was flown on approach to the Benazir Bhutto International Airport in Islamabad in the ridge of the Margalla Hills . All 146 passengers and the six crew members were killed. The cause was the captain flying a "self-made" approach procedure below the minimum height. He did not react to any information from the First Officer or to a total of 21 warnings from the EGPWS ground warning device (see also Airblue flight 202 ) .
