The Aitana is an East Timorese mountain in Suco Laline ( Lacluta administrative office , Viqueque municipality ). It has a height of 1203  m .

history

From March 1st to March 8th 1981 a meeting of the FRETILIN took place at Aitana . The "reorganization of the National Conference" served to restructure the resistance against the Indonesian invaders after the loss of all resistance bases ( bases de apoio ) and liberated zones ( zonas libertadas ).

On September 7, 1981, there was a massacre on the slopes of Aitanas. At the St. Antonius Shrine , Indonesian soldiers from Battalion 744 murdered 70 people, including women and children , according to Indonesian sources, 70 according to the “ Legs of Fence ” operation , and according to an eyewitness report by priest Costa Lopes . The unarmed victims were handcuffed and then stabbed to death.

The football club Aitana FC is named after the mountain .
