Ajeet Rai (born January 18, 1999 in New Plymouth ) is a New Zealand tennis player .

Career

Ajeet Rai played on the ITF Junior Tour and once took part in the Australian Open in singles and doubles in 2017 , where he won a match in doubles. Shortly thereafter, he was 79th, his highest junior rank in the ranking.

So far, he has only played a few tournaments with the professionals. In 2018 he got a wildcard for the qualification at his home tournament in Auckland , where he was clearly defeated by Taro Daniel . As a result, he only played tournaments of the third-rate ITF Future Tour , where he won his only title to date in October 2018. A month later he achieved his best ranking in the tennis world ranking with 694th place , in doubles rank 1128 was his best ranking. Due to the world ranking reform, Rai was no longer in the ranking in 2019. On the side of George Stoupe , he came back to the home tournament in Auckland in January through a wildcard.
