Ajoy Kar

Ajoy Kar ( Bengali : অজয় কর , Ajaẏ Kar ; born March 27, 1914 in Kolkata , West Bengal ; † January 25, 1985 ibid) was an Indian director of Bengali films .

He started out as a cameraman in the early 1940s. He made his directorial debut in 1949 with Bamuner Meye . Kar has made successful entertainment films, both comedies and dramas, often starring Uttam Kumar , Suchitra Sen , Chhabi Biswas and Utpal Dutt . His most famous films include: Saptapadi (1961) - was nominated for the Grand Prix at the Moscow International Film Festival , Harano Sur (1957), Shyamali (1956), Saat Pake Bandha (1963) and the film adaptation of Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyays Parineeta (1969) .
