Akarca was a municipality in Avanos County in Nevşehir Province , Turkey . Due to the reduced population it fell back to the status of a village. Akarca is located about 28 km northeast of Avanos near the D260 trunk road.

According to the census in 2000, Akarca had 2,259 inhabitants, in 2012 it was 1,575, in 2018 only 1,184 inhabitants.

Municipal elections 1994
Akarca has been a parish since the 1994 parish elections. Before it had less than 2000 inhabitants and was therefore Kasaba . The DYP won the first municipal election in Akarca with 54.51%. The opposition SHP came to 44.4%. The first mayor was Keramettin Dönmez .
Municipal elections 1999
In the 1999 municipal elections, the ANAP won with 49.89%, just ahead of the CHP , which received 47.24% of the 870 valid votes. Keramettin Dönmez was able to defend his post as mayor.
Municipal elections 2004
In the 2004 municipal elections, the AKP emerged victorious with 50.41% of the votes compared to 39.11% for the MHP . The mayor was Necdet Düdük .
