Aki Aleong

Aki Aleong (born December 19, 1934 in Port of Spain , Trinidad ) is an American actor , singer and music producer .

The son of a Hong Kong chef grew up in Trinidad. In 1949 he moved with his mother to New York, where he began training as an actor in 1951. In 1954 he got his first role on Broadway - as a goat boy in Vern Sneider's The Little Tea House .

Movie and TV

Aleong made his television debut in an episode of Producers' Showcase in 1956 and made his feature film debut a year later as a cook in the drama Motorcycle Gang . Since then he has worked in over 200 film and television productions. Aleong was also successful as a musician. He wrote songs such as Trade Winds and Shombalor and acted as the frontman of the group Aki Aleong and the Nobles from 1963 to 1967 . Aleong was the first American of Asian descent to reach a place in the US Top 100 charts with a song he wrote and produced himself.
