al-Madschd ( Arabic المجد al-Madschd , DMG al-Maǧd ) is a Syrian football club from the capital Damascus , founded in 1934. The club currently plays in the country's highest league, the Syrian Professional League . The club plays its home games in the Abbasid Stadium . The club isinsignificantcompared to the city rival al-Wahda , but more popular than the other rival al-Jaish . The club's greatest success is the cup victory in the 1977/78 season. At the end of the 2007/08 season the club was runner-up and thus achieved its highest ranking in the league at all. As a runner-up in the league, he automatically qualified for the 2009 AFC Cup .
