al-Wahda ( Arabic الوحدة, DMG al-Waḥda 'unit') is a Syrian sports club from Damascus . The club, founded in 1928, is best known for its men's football team. al-Wahda plays in the Abbasid Stadium , which is also used regularly by the Syrian national team. The arena, built in 1976, is the second largest stadium in Syria with 45,000 seats after the Aleppo International Stadium . In the 2003/04 and 2014 seasons, al-Wahda won the championship. In the AFC Cup 2004 the club reached 2nd place. The club won the Syrian National Cup in 1993 and 2003.
The most successful division of the club is the women's basketball team. There are also teams of men and women in martial arts and handball.
