Ash Shamal ( Arabic بلدية الشمال, DMG baladīyat aš-Šamāl ) is a municipality on the northern tip of Qatar . The population is 7,975 (as of April 2010).

The municipality includes the following places:

Madīnat al-Shamāl (ar-Ruways), 3267 inhabitants
Fuwayriṭ (al-Jassasiyah), 1306 inhabitants
az-Zubāra , 826 inhabitants
Mirinda , 257 residents

The stadium of the football club Al-Shamal SC is planned as the venue for the football World Cup in 2022 .
