al-Wakra ( Arabic بلدية الوكرة, DMG Baladiyyat al-Wakra ) is one of eight parishes in Qatar . The main settlement is the city of the same name al-Wakra . The community had a total of 299,037 inhabitants at the 2015 census. Most of the residents live in the north of the municipality, where parts of the Doha metropolitan area have spread to the area of al-Wakras.

The southern end of al-Wakra is characterized by dense sand dunes. Unlike northern Qatar, where most of the areas are near sea level, most of the southern and central parts of al-Wakra are 40 to 60 meters above sea level. Water is scarce in most areas as the water table is relatively low.

al-Wakra borders two municipalities: ar-Rayyan in the northwest and Doha in the north.
