Zoubeir Bornaz

Zoubeir Bornaz (* unknown; † January 13, 2017 in Tunisia ) was a Tunisian actor , director and writer .

Life

Bornaz attended primary school Sadiki, the Collège Sadiki and the Lycée Technique in Tunis before he graduated in dental prosthetics in Lyon and then completed an internship at the Edouard Herriot Hospital (HEH) in Lyon. He practiced the profession of dental technician for seven years in his own dental laboratory in Le Bardo before giving up and completely reorienting himself. It was in Lyon that he developed his passion for art in general, such as glass blowing - which he first came into contact with in Murano in 1969 - as well as theater, cinema and literary writing in particular. Bornaz was seen in French films in cinemas from the 1970s. Several roles in Tunisian and international films followed. In 1977 he moved to Hammamet and opened a craft boutique. In the off-season he was able to take the time for two glass blowing courses in Egypt and from 1981 onwards he ran the first classic glass blowing in Tunisia in Nabeul . Bornaz traveled and used this to perfect his knowledge of painting, engraving, grinding, metallizing and folding glass. He specialized in blowing glass on the lamp after completing another internship in this technique in Bulgaria. His creations were awarded at the 1986 fair in Nabeul. At the Salon de l'artisanat 1995 in Tunisia, he was able to take second place. In 1998 he took part in the fair in Palermo. He wrote the lyrics, staged and interpreted Farcha , a one-man show with which he appeared at the 1996 Medina Festival in Tunis. During his career Bornaz was part of over 50 productions, commercials and reports before he devoted himself to writing and published books in later years. The artist died in January 2017 after a long illness in his home country Tunisia. When his death became known, Mediapart , in a memory and tribute to Bornaz, published verses - which "show the artist's humor, clarity and talent" - which he wrote on January 4, 2017 and shortly before his final Had to start hospitalization, published on his social media account. After playing his one-man show and working with glass, Bornaz returned to the role of Taïeb in 2000 for the film Halou u mer by Tunisian director Naceur Ktari, a drama also known as Sweet and Bitter the big screen back. The film was honored with the bronze award - Tanit de Bronze - at the Carthage Film Festival 2000 and tells the story of a theater director, Slah. The action takes us to a small Greek island off Athens , where a group of young people who want to open a holiday club have to face a strange curse and a murderer. Bornaz's probably last appearances in front of the camera include the film La Cité by Kim Nguyen - Bornaz in the role of the concierge of a hotel - as well as in Le Dernier Mirage by Nidhal Chatta , as the pilot Adnan, who flies a plane from Iraq to the Tunisian desert controls. Both films have in common that they were partly shot in the south of Tunisia and that they share the leading actor with Jean-Marc Barr .

In 2005 Bornaz published the book La Renaissance du verre soufflé en Tunisie . In January 2013 his novel Pikilini was published , which deals with the life of a typical Tunisian teenager in the 60s and 70s. A novel about values, love, family, friendships and taboos in Tunisian society.

Bornaz dedicated Pikilini to the Sidi Mahersi cultural association in Nabeul. The Tunisian newspaper Le Temps wrote on the occasion:
