Al Dacascos

Al Dacascos (* 6. September 1942 in Hilo , Hawaii ) is the creator of the globally successful martial arts -Stiles Wun Hop Kuen Do . During his youth, Dacascos gained experience in many martial arts until he finally found his way to Kajukenbo , which is still where his roots are today. As a master degree holder ( 9th Dan ), Al Dacascos is one of the highest members of this system worldwide.

His martial arts training began at the age of 11 under Mile Chong with judo and jiu jitsu. He trained the Kajukenbo style of Kempō Karate under the teacher Sid Asuncion . Here he received his black belt in 1960. In 1965 he moved to California, where he studied other Kung Fu styles. In 1975 Dacascos moved with his family to Hamburg , where he opened a martial arts school. One of his students was Emanuel Bettencourt . In 1977 he was named "Kung Fu Artist of the Year" by the American magazine BlackBelt in the Hall of Fame . In 1981, Al Dacascos was appointed chief instructor of the Koushu Federation of the Republic of China in Taiwan . He lived in Oregon from 1982 to 2002 , from where he headed the international Wun Hop Kuen Do Association . His most famous students include his wife Malia Dacascos , his son Mark Dacascos , Chris Yim and Christian Wulf . Since 2002 he has been living in Hawaii again.

He fought and trained with greats like Chuck Norris and Bruce Lee . He also choreographed some fight scenes for film and television.
