In July 2017 it was announced that Alan Menken , who had already composed the score for the 1992 animated film Aladdin by John Musker and Ron Clements, would return as a composer for its real-life version after the direction of Guy Ritchie, with Benjamin Pasek and Justin Paul will work together.

The film song A Whole New World, written by Menken with lyrics by Tim Rice , was re-recorded by the British pop and R&B singer Zayn , who became known as a member of the boy group One Direction, and the US singer and songwriter Zhavia Ward .

In addition to Menken's score and the new recording of A Whole New World , the soundtrack includes all / the original songs from the film, including by Will Smith and Mena Massoud , who can be seen in the title role of Aladdin.
