Alain Afflelou

Alain Afflelou (born January 1, 1948 in Mascara (now Muaskar ), Algeria ) is a French optician and businessman.

Life

Alain Afflelou came to mainland France with his parents and his sister Eliette and brother Maurice in 1962 after Algeria gained independence . After living with the former go-go girl Alexandra Lorska for nine years, with whom he has a son, he was married to Rosalie van Breemen from 2002 to 2008 .

Alain Afflelou was made a Knight of the Legion of Honor on April 3, 2007 .

Afflelou brand

After he of the College of Optometry in Paris was graduated, he opened his first shop in Bordeaux in 1972 at the age of 24 years. Afflelou then founded a chain of opticians that bears his name. As a great communicator, he was able to establish his brand on the French market as an upstart, not least because of his publicity - whereby the awareness of his brand and himself benefited each other. On November 6, 2007, the Bridgepoint Capital pension fund acquired 96.08% of Afflelou SA through intermediaries from 3 AB Optique financement .

Engagement in sport

Afflelou is involved in football in many ways. He was President of Girondins Bordeaux from 1991 to 1996 and of US Créteil between 1997 and 2001 , and since 2007 he has been a sponsor of Paris Saint-Germain .

He is also the main sponsor of the rugby union club Aviron Bayonnais and sponsor of the French Open .
