Alan Glen (* 1951 in Wuppertal , Germany ) is a British harmonica player. He became known for his work with The Yardbirds , Nine Below Zero , Little Ax , The Incredible Blues Puppies and his own band The Barcodes.

Life

Alan Glen began playing the harmonica in the late 1960s after listening to Muddy Waters and the American Folk-Blues Festival in London. First influences were Little Walter, Sonny Boy Williamson and Junior Wells.

After playing in various bands, he became a member of Nine Below Zero in 1991, where he played until 1995. In 1996 he became a member of the Yardbirds, where he stayed until 2003; he played again in 2008/2009 with the Yardbirds.

Alan Glen is a sought-after musician; he played on over 30 albums as an accompanist or performed on tours (Alannah Myles, Jeff Beck , Steve Vai, Slash , John Mayall , Steve Lukather, Skunk Baxter).

Alan Glen has played at the Montreux Jazz Festival , Brecon Jazz Festival and Nice Jazz Festival, the Hollywood House of Blues, the Royal Albert Hall and on various television and radio shows. With Peter Green he performed at the Long Beach Blues Festival ; he also performed with Paul Jones , Junior Delgado and Hubert Sumlin .
