Alan Simpson (athlete)
Alan Simpson (born May 22, 1945 in Coventry ) is a former British middle and long distance runner .
In 1962 he retired for England starting at the mile run of the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Perth in advance.
At the Olympic Games in 1964, he came fourth over 1500 m .
In 1966 he was fourth over 3000 m at the European Indoor Games in Dortmund . Over a mile he won silver at the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Kingston , and over 1,500 meters he was fourth at the European Athletics Championships in Budapest .
In 1963, 1964 and 1965 he was English champion over one mile, in 1966 English indoor champion over two miles.
