Alana Rene "Lana" Blanchard (born March 5, 1990 in Princeville , Kaua'i , Hawaii ) is an American surfer , model and entrepreneur .

Life

Her father, Holt Blanchard, taught her to surf, and she took part in her first competitions at the age of nine. She surfed the ASP World Tour and took a break in 2015. She founded the modeling agency "The Surf Look" in Malibu , California, which provides surfers for the advertising industry.

Alana Blanchard was there on October 31, 2003 when her friend Bethany Hamilton's left arm was bitten off in a shark attack. In the film Soul Surfer , which has this shark attack as its theme, Alana Blanchard is portrayed by Lorraine Nicholson and her father Holt by Kevin Sorbo . Archival material is used for surfing scenes with Alana Blanchard.

Blanchard finished first on the shortboard at the 2005 T&C Women's Pipeline Championships .
