The Alanpiggen ( Norwegian ; English Alan Peak ) is a mountain in the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . It rises on the west side of the entrance to Reecedalen in the southern part of Sverdrupfjella .
The first mapping was carried out using aerial photographs taken during the German Antarctic Expedition (1938–1939). Norwegian cartographers re-mapped using aerial photographs of the Norwegian-British-Swedish Antarctic Expedition (NBSAE, 1949–1952) and the Third Norwegian Antarctic Expedition (1956–1960) and named the mountain after the British geologist Alan William Reece (1921–1960) , Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey employee and NBSAE participant.
