Albín Brunovský

Albín Brunovský (born December 25, 1935 in Zohor ; † January 20, 1997 in Bratislava ) was a Slovak painter, graphic artist, bookplate and postage stamp artist.

education

Brunovský studied from 1955 to 1961 at the University of Fine Arts in Bratislava, a. a. with Vincent Hložník .

Life

Brunovský taught as a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava, where he became rector in 1989. In 1990 he retired from academic operations to work exclusively as an artist.

Works

  • Brunovský created the last banknote series in Czechoslovakia .
  • Between 1964 and 1990 he produced around 30 postage stamps.
  • From 1970 until his death he created around 105 bookplates (etchings: techniques C3 and C7).

Awards

  • In 1985 Brunovský received the rarely awarded honorary title of national artist from the state .
