The Albert Einstein School Laatzen ( AES ) is a cooperative comprehensive school in the city of Laatzen near Hanover. For the 2019/2020 school year the school will have around 1595 students. At the open day school pupil of are main branch school , secondary school branch , and the high school branch with Gymnasium upper taught. Different profiles are offered to the students.

history

When the school was founded in 1975, the city of Laatzen got its first secondary school . The scientist and pacifist Albert Einstein was chosen as deonomist . The nearby Erich-Kästner-Gymnasium, with which the AES cooperates, was added a few years later as the second secondary school in Laatzen. Over the years, the AES expanded structural measures to their current dimensions. In 2016 the school celebrated its 40th anniversary.

All day school

With the concept of the open all-day school, AES students have almost 50 different working groups (AGs), sports and leisure activities and homework help available in the afternoons . There is also a student library with computers and a leisure room. The offers are available from the wide range of subject areas taught and some go beyond that. Especially responsible teachers, supported by FSJ-lers , or participants in the federal voluntary service , as well as volunteers, coordinate and manage offers and implementation.

Extra-curricular

There are exchange programs with and school trips abroad, including Holland, Spain and England. The school cafeteria and the bistro organized by parents provide culinary catering. Projects in the field of economy, politics and society include, for example, a Management Information Game (MIG) in cooperation with Continental AG , the Europa Live project in cooperation with the TUI Foundation, in which AES students, for example, with Lower Saxony's Prime Minister Stephan Weil discussed politics in Europe, or the simulation game on local politics Pimp your town .

Language learning classes

Since 2010, there are now three language classes teaching students whose language skills in German are not yet sufficient for participation in regular classes. This concept was institutionalized in 2014 with the issue of German language diplomas. The Lower Saxony Minister of Education, Frauke Heiligenstadt, personally handed out some language diplomas to AES students.

In addition to a broad and relatively modern technical equipment, the AES has a school network . As is the case with many schools in Lower Saxony, the IServ service is used for this. There is a special culture of remembrance at AES. Events and exhibitions to commemorate the reign of terror at the time of National Socialism take place regularly , as well as visits to the nearby Bergen-Belsen concentration camp . Survivors of the concentration camps, two honorary citizens of the city of Laatzen, regularly report as contemporary witnesses about their experiences at that time.
