The Albert-Schweitzer-Gymnasium (short: ASG) is a high school in the Erfurt district of Rieth , named after Albert Schweitzer , a German theologian, organist, philosopher and doctor. In addition to a normal grammar school , it includes a special school section that deals with the special support of students in the fields of mathematics , natural sciences and computer science .

Special features of the school

The ASG takes part in the European project CertiLingua , which is an internationally recognized addition to the Abitur certificate, which, among other things, proves multilingual skills.

In addition to participation in CertiLingua, there is the so-called Albert Schweitzer School Prize at the Albert Schweitzer Gymnasium, which is awarded to pupils or groups of pupils in six subject areas (social sciences, art, music, mathematics / computer science, natural sciences, languages / literature).

Mission statement and orientation

The school attaches great importance to promoting students in the MINT (mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, technology) and language areas, including bilingual teaching in the English working language in grades 5 to 10. In addition, a lot is put into the development of social skills and a sense of responsibility. This orientation was agreed on March 10, 2010 in the school's mission statement.

For more information on funding in the natural sciences, see also the special school section at the Albert-Schweitzer-Gymnasium Erfurt .
