Albert Aqarunov (born April 25, 1969 in Baku , Azerbaijan , † May 8, 1992 in Shusha , Azerbaijan) was a Star China in the Azerbaijani army . He was killed in the Nagorno-Karabakh War defending the city of Shusha and was posthumously named the national hero of Azerbaijan.

Life

Asif Agarunovich Aqarunov was born on April 25, 1969 to a Jewish family in the Amirjan settlement of Baku . He was interested in music from a young age . Aqarunov finished trumpet lessons at the music school. After graduating from 8th grade from School No. 154 in Surakhani District , he was accepted into the driver-mechanic department .

In 1987 he was appointed military service in Georgia convened and was at this time tanks - Commander . In 1989 he was demobilized. He worked in the Surakhani machine factory.

Karabakh war and participation in fighting

When the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia flared up again after the collapse of the Soviet Union , Aqarunov volunteered for the Azerbaijani military in the Nagorno-Karabakh region . When he informed his family about this, it created confusion and confusion. This message was not clear to his family members. His family did not want to risk his life at an early age, but Aqarunov refused to be persuaded.

Albert Aqarunov, who was appointed tank commander, fought in Special Operations Battalion No. 777 under the command of Elchin Mammadov. The Armenian tank with which the conquest of the city of Şuşa was first attempted on May 8, 1992, was hung with an Armenian flag of honor, which was to be hoisted in the city of Şuşa.

The commander of this tank was the Armenian Gagik Awscharian, who was shot at by Albert Aqarunov's tank on his way into the city of Shusha and who was killed together with driver-mechanic Aschot Awanesian.

After the end of the Karabakh War, the Armenians restored the burnt-out T-72 tank from Avsharian, painted it with dark green paint, marked it in white with the number 442 and set it as a memorial on a hill on the road from Stepanakert in the direction of Shusha .

Aqarunov was buried in the Martyrs' Alley in Baku .

Awards and rewards

Aqarunov Albert Aqarunoviç was awarded the title of National Hero of Azerbaijan by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Isa Gambarov according to decree No. 833 of June 7, 1992 .
