Albert Dietrich Schadow , also called Albrecht Dietrich Schadow (* May 2, 1797 , in Potsdam ; † September 5, 1869 , in Berlin ), was a German builder and architect and mainly worked for the architects Karl Friedrich Schinkel and Friedrich August Stüler .

Albert Dietrich Schadow was the fourth child of the architect and later head of the Berlin Palace Construction Commission, Friedrich Gottlieb Schadow . Schadow studied at the Bauakademie from 1812 , interrupted by his participation as a volunteer in the Wars of Liberation from 1813 to 1816 and a subsequent trip through southern Germany and northern Italy . In 1827 he passed the master builder examination.

In the following years he worked in the palace construction commission under his father (until 1831) and his successor Friedrich August Stüler . In 1838/39 he went on a trip to Italy with Ferdinand von Quast . From 1843 his work concentrated on the Berlin City Palace , for which he took over the construction management for the construction of the dome and the white hall. In 1849 he was appointed chief building officer and a member of the Academy of Arts . One of his students was Carl Rabitz . His blindness led to his retirement in 1862. He was buried in the Dorotheenstadt cemetery .
