Albert Dietrich Schadow
Albert Dietrich Schadow , also called Albrecht Dietrich Schadow (* May 2, 1797 , in Potsdam ; † September 5, 1869 , in Berlin ), was a German builder and architect and mainly worked for the architects Karl Friedrich Schinkel and Friedrich August Stüler .
Life
Albert Dietrich Schadow was the fourth child of the architect and later head of the Berlin Palace Construction Commission, Friedrich Gottlieb Schadow . Schadow studied at the Bauakademie from 1812 , interrupted by his participation as a volunteer in the Wars of Liberation from 1813 to 1816 and a subsequent trip through southern Germany and northern Italy . In 1827 he passed the master builder examination.
In the following years he worked in the palace construction commission under his father (until 1831) and his successor Friedrich August Stüler . In 1838/39 he went on a trip to Italy with Ferdinand von Quast . From 1843 his work concentrated on the Berlin City Palace , for which he took over the construction management for the construction of the dome and the white hall. In 1849 he was appointed chief building officer and a member of the Academy of Arts . One of his students was Carl Rabitz . His blindness led to his retirement in 1862. He was buried in the Dorotheenstadt cemetery .

- 1829–1831 Palm house on Pfaueninsel , Berlin (burned down on the night of May 18-19, 1880). Execution based on a design by Schinkel

- 1833 Frigate shed on Pfaueninsel, Berlin
- 1834–1837 Church of St. Peter and Paul , Berlin, together with Friedrich August Stüler
- 1835–1837 rectory in Klein Glienicke , Berlin. Originally planned next to the Church of St. Peter and Paul, but built there at the instigation of the Klein-Glienicke community
- 1841 Conversion of the garden house in the Marlygarten, designed by Peter Joseph Lenné , into the Villa Liegnitz , Potsdam, as a widow's residence for the Princess Liegnitz , the second wife of Friedrich Wilhelm III.
- 1841 Schwanenbrücke in the New Garden , Potsdam
- 1844–1846 Palace terraces at Lustgarten , Berlin (based on an idea by Friedrich Wilhelm IV. )
- 1845–1853 construction management for the palace chapel and dome above the Eosander portal (portal III) of the Berlin city palace based on plans by Stülers
- 1845–1853 construction management (with Hermann Friedrich Waesemann ) for the renovation of the White Hall of the Berlin City Palace according to Stüler's plans
