Albert Emil Nüscke (born October 6, 1817 in Stettin , † September 24, 1891 in Grabow ) was a German shipbuilder and shipyard owner.

Live and act

Albert Emil Nüscke was a son of sea captain Michael Nüscke and his wife Anna Elisabeth, née Retzlaff. He learned the shipbuilding trade from his uncle Johann Christian Nüscke, who had moved his shipyard in 1815 from the shipbuilding stage in Stettin to his own property in Grabow due to lack of space. He supplemented his practical training with theoretical studies in Berlin, at the shipbuilding school founded in Stettin in 1834 and in England.

In 1845, 65-year-old Johann Christian Nüscke sold his shipyard to his nephew for 9,000 thalers. Albert Emil Nüscke built five new ships as early as 1846, including the Cammin , one of the first attempts at steam and wheel drive shipbuilding from Stettin and Grabow. In 1859 Nüscke built the two cannon boats Salamander and Schwalbe for the Prussian Navy .

In addition to his job, Nüscke was a councilor for many years from 1863, and from 1872 to 1878 councilor in Grabow. In 1864 he was appointed a technical member of the debtor's deputation, and in 1871 city fire director. In 1867 Nüscke was appointed an expert at the Maritime and Commercial Court in Stettin at the suggestion of the head of the Stettin merchants.

Nüscke was married to Johanne Marie Dürr from Grabow. His daughter married a navigation school teacher. His only son, Johann M. Fr. Nüscke, became a captain on a long voyage, acquired a thorough professional training in shipbuilding, later took on the management of his father's shipyard and began building iron ships in 1890.

Albert Emil Nüscke was buried in the cemetery of his city Grabow.
