Albert Fennell (born March 29, 1920 in London - Chiswick , United Kingdom ; † April 17, 1988 in Maulden , Bedfordshire ) was a British film producer , television producer and, at a young age, also a brief screenwriter.

Live and act

Fennell was drafted during World War II and joined British film shortly after his release into civilian life. Here he began as a unit manager and was employed in 1946/47 for Gainsborough Pictures with the production supervision of popular entertainment films such as dangerous journey , Paganini and the root of all evil . Immediately afterwards, Fennell made his debut at Idol of Paris as a production manager, and since 1953 he has been working regularly as a film producer and executive producer. In this role, Fennell oversaw a number of films, some of which were considerable, including the Alec Guinness works Des Poodle's Core and Once a Hero , the then highly controversial voyeurist shocker Eyes of Fear , the neat horror story Castle of Terror and a late work by the Free Cinema movement , Lindsay Anderson's directorial debut Alluring Laurel .

He and his colleague Brian Clemens celebrated triumphs far beyond Great Britain's borders with the agent series With Umbrella, Charm and Melon , which had a large fan base, especially in Germany. Subsequently, Fennell produced another very popular (action) series, The Profis . In the meantime he had returned to the cinema and had the early 1970s for the Hammer Films , the horror stories Dr. Jekyll and Sister Hyde and Captain Kronos - vampire hunters as well as for another company that produces the horror fair dance of the skulls . Albert Fennell ended his career with two conventional television films, which he made shortly before his death.
