action

In the middle of the 19th century in England , the young English gentleman and writer Richard Darrell witnessed the Spanish nobleman Don Carlos almost becoming the victim of an insidious attack by two bandits. Darrell intervenes and saves the foreigner from the robbers. Convinced by so much nobility, Don Carlos asked Richard Darrell to bring a valuable necklace safely to Spain . The adventure excites him and so Darrell agrees. He temporarily leaves his fiancée, the young noblewoman Oriana, to start the dangerous journey to Spain.

On his way into a strange world he meets Wycroft, an unscrupulous henchman whom the aristocrat Sir Francis Castleton has sent after him with the sinister intention of eliminating his rival for the favor of the beautiful Oriana. Darrell, unsuspecting, falls victim to the attack by villain Wycroft, who robbed him and left him believing that he had killed him. Darrell survives the attack, but he loses his memory in the process . Oriana is informed by Sir Francis Castleton that Darrell was killed in a robbery. Instead, Darrell marries the gypsy Rosal in Spain , while Oriana, who Darrell believes to be dead, finally gives in to the courtship of the aristocrat Sir Francis and marries him. But fate has not yet played all cards and in the end all the protagonists suddenly meet again.

Reviews

“In the middle of the 19th century, a poor English poet takes on a secret mission and is pursued by his criminal rival for the hand of a noble girl on his perilous expedition with slander, intrigues and assassinations. Poorly constructed adventure film with trivial-romantic features. "
