Albert Hensel (resistance fighter)

Otto Albert Hensel (born March 20, 1895 in Dresden-Trachau , † June 5, 1942 in Berlin-Plötzensee ) was a German resistance fighter and member of the KPD .

Life

The trained milker founded a resistance group in Dresden in 1934 together with Karl Stein and the artist couple Fritz Schulze and Eva Schulze-Knabe .

Albert Hensel was arrested on February 6, 1941 and spent 14 months in custody . On March 11, 1942, he was sentenced to death together with Fritz Schulze, Karl Stein and Herbert Bochow . The judgment was carried out on June 5, 1942 in Plötzensee with the guillotine . His symbolic grave is located in the honor grove of the Heidefriedhof in Dresden.

Honor

A street in the Trachenberge district of Dresden was named after him. A stumbling block at Volkersdorfer Straße 3 has been a reminder of him since 2015 .
