Albert Kuppe (born October 25, 1988 in Dushanbe ) is a German basketball player .

career

Kuppe, who grew up as the son of Russian and Tajik immigrants in Germany, played until 2008 thanks to a double license for both USC Heidelberg and SG Mannheim. Via the stations Viernheim / Weinheim and Speyer he came to the Oettinger Rockets in 2010 , with whom he became champion of the 2nd Bundesliga ProB in 2012 and thus promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga ProA . In spring 2006 he took part in the Albert Schweitzer tournament with the German U18 national team. In the run-up to the 2013/14 season, he tore a cruciate ligament in his right knee and then missed the entire season.

In 2015 he returned to Heidelberg and became team captain for the second division team. In his last season in Heidelberg (2017/18), Kuppe played in 34 games and scored an average of 9.6 points. With 67 three-point throws hit, he was the team's best distance thrower. In the summer of 2018, he retired from the professional field to work for a management consulting firm in Speyer  . In August 2018, Kuppe won a $ 200,000 international invitation tournament in Shanghai, China, with a selection of German and US players under the direction of coach Ralph Junge .

In the run-up to the 2018/19 season, he returned to the BIS Baskets Speyer (Regionalliga). In the 2018/19 season he led Speyer as the team's best scorer (19.6 points on average) to win the championship in the Regionalliga Südwest. In April 2019 he received an appointment to the German national team in the basketball variant "3-on-3" and took part in the eliminations for the World Cup in Puerto Rico and in the same year in the European Championship.

In summer 2020 he went back to the second division Heidelberg.
