Albert Pilat

Albert Pilát (born November 2, 1903 in Prague ; † May 29, 1974 ibid) was a Czech mycologist who made significant contributions to porlingen and belly mushrooms . Its official botanical author's abbreviation is " Pilát ".

Life

Pilát studied in Prague with Josef Velenovský , from whom he was introduced to mycology . Even before his doctorate, he published monographic studies on certain porlings (Cyphellaceae) and crust mushrooms (Stereaceae). From 1930 he worked in the botanical department of the Prague National Museum and from 1948 to 1974 head of the mycological section there.

Since 1930 he has published numerous monographs on various groups of mushrooms. In 1958 the internationally acclaimed volume on Gasteromycetes appeared in the "Flora ČSR" under his leadership . For a long time he was the editor-in-chief of the journal "Česka Mykologie".

Numerous species got their scientific name from him, e.g. B.
