Albert Posch

Albert Posch (born July 19, 1978 in Vorau ) is an Austrian legal scholar and lawyer. Since May 1, 2020, he has headed the constitutional service of the Federal Chancellery.

Career

Posch studied law at the Karl-Franzens University in Graz . After completing his diploma studies, he did his doctorate with a dissertation on the priority of Union law over constitutional law under Christoph Grabenwarter as "Dr. iur". From 2002 to 2005 he was an assistant at the Institute for Public Law and Political Science at the Karl-Franzens University in Graz. In 2005 he moved to the constitutional service as a consultant , where he soon rose to head the EU judiciary unit. From 2008 to 2009 he studied at the renowned Columbia Law School as part of the Fulbright program .

As of 2013, Posch acted as constitutional advisor to Vice Chancellors Michael Spindelegger , Reinhold Mitterlehner and Wolfgang Brandstetter . In the Federal Government Kurz I he was head of the cabinet of Chancellery Minister Gernot Blümel . Federal Chancellor Brigitte Bierlein appointed Posch head of the legal service of the Federal Chancellery (Group IV / B) during the transitional government . At the end of January 2020 Posch was entrusted with the interim management and on May 1st, 2020 with the management of the constitutional service of the Federal Chancellery.

Private life

Albert Posch met his wife while studying at Columbia Law School. The couple have a daughter together.
