Albert Schwander

Albert Schwander (born October 30, 1861 in Bärenwil , Langenbruck , † July 17, 1922 in Birsfelden ) was a Swiss politician .

Life

Schwander attended the teachers' college in Kreuzlingen and was a primary school teacher in Birsfelden from 1882 to 1893 . Then owner of a gravel pit . From 1893 to 1914 he was mayor of Birsfelden, from 1899 to 1914 a member of the criminal court and from 1907 to 1914 civil registry officer . From 1896 to 1914 he was the district administrator of the Basel farmers 'and workers' union ; in 1902/1903 and 1910/1911 he was president. Schwander was a member of the National Council from 1904 to 1914 and then from 1914 to 1922 as a representative of the Free People's Party on the Government Council .

Schwander contributed to the introduction of the cantonal unification office in 1918 and the agricultural winter school in 1919. From 1899 to 1914 he was a member of the board of directors and in 1914 chairman of the board of directors of Basellandschaftliche Kantonalbank and from 1914 to 1922 chairman of the board of directors of Elektra Birseck .
