The Bauern- und Arbeiterbund ( BAB ) (also: Association of Democratically Minded Voters ) was a political party in the Swiss canton of Basel-Landschaft founded on October 30, 1892 in Muttenz and officially dissolved in 1915 .

The founders of the BAB are representatives of the Arlesheim Agricultural District Association, the Catholic men's and workers' associations, the Grütlivereine and the Freiland-Bund around Oberwil District Administrator Stephan Gschwind . At the founding meeting, the saying "The sun shines us to victory!" have fallen.

Gschwind called for a mortgage reform to relieve the numerous overindebted smallholders. In 1895 an initiative started collecting signatures. This would u. a. to grant the Kantonalbank the quasi-monopoly in the mortgage business and to burden the municipalities with the mortgage debts of the residents and was rejected by the voters in December 1896.

The newspaper "Bauern- und Arbeiterbund Baselland", published from December 1892, was the official organ.

During its existence, the BAB provided Eduard Heinis (term of office 1894–1896) and Walter Meyer (term of office 1894–1899) two members of the government, and Stephan Gschwind (term of office 1899–1904) and Albert Schwander (term of office 1904 to 1914) two national councilors .
